Pet Wellness

Pet Wellness Decline

When I was younger, diseases like cancer were rarely found in pets. Today, that has changed dramatically. Pets, especially cats and dogs, are now getting many of the same illnesses that people get. Many veterinarians attribute this significant increase to the foods we are feeding our pets.

If you've read any other pages on this website, you have probably read about the lack of quality ingredients to be found in most supermarket brands of pet foods. If you plan to buy any of those brands again, it would be a good idea to read the labels. Look at the first few ingredients, and then be sure to look at the number of artificial additives and preservatives. Remember that cats and dogs are carnivores and need plenty of animal protein. If the primary ingredient in a pet food is corn, your pet will be starting off with too little protein.

What is Pet Wellness?

A healthy pet is one who is interested in life, whose eyes are bright, whose coat is shiny. If your pet loves to play even at an advanced age, your pet is probably enjoying the health she deserves. Healthy pets do not have strong odor. They do not rub their rumps on your carpet. They are not covered with fleas and do not have dry skin. Healthy pets, whose teeth and gums are getting the right care, do not have bad breath. If your pet is continually getting ear or eye infections, it may be due to an allergic reaction to some of the byproducts used in brand-name pet foods.

The good news is that, with regular veterinary check-ups and the right food, even a pet who is not healthy today can become healthy in a matter of a few weeks. Feeding your pet all-natural, premium food can make a huge difference. You can find such foods right here on the Internet. If you're concerned about your pet's health and want her to have a long life, take a few minutes to look at some of the comparisons of various healthy pet foods. You will find that the difference in price is not as great as you may have thought. Pennies a day can go a long way to improving pet wellness.
