Code Of Federal Regulations

by Rylee Newton

The Code of Federal Regulations is a highly organized publication that offers a variety of information about a number of government agencies. This publication is often used in the legal community as a reference tool for federal practice and policy cases. Depending on your needs you may want to either purchase the whole volume or just the pertinent publications for your particular industry.

The Code of Federal Regulations is published every quarter, with different government agencies proving content depending on the time of the year. The Government Printing Office, or GPO, produces this and many other government publications every year. The printing schedule makes sense when you consider the volume of information presented in this official document. New segments are updated on the first of January, April, July and October.

Understanding the Organization of the Code of Federal Regulations

The Code of Federal Regulations is organized into "titles." These titles are then divided into chapters depending on the agency that produced the information. These chapters are then divided into subdivisions that address specific policy and regulatory issues. The U.S. Government Manual can provide you with a road map to finding information from the different government agencies published in the code of regulations publication.

A great deal of organization goes into the printing of this government publication. It can seem overwhelming, but when you take a look at it first-hand you will find the information quite accessible. When you need a reliable resource for government publication information you can log onto the Internet to find a listing of publication dates for your specific area of interest. You can even find an online version of this publication, which is quite useful for a number of law firms, government agencies, and educational facilities.
