The self-publishing arena is perfect for Christian book publishing. If you have written a Christian book, you may have found some resistance from traditional publishing companies. This resistance, while still present, has lightened in recent times because of the tremendous and unexpected success of some Christian-based books. There are a number of different types of Christian books that have not only found a niche audience, they have been embraced by a wide audience.

There are an estimated 100,000,000 Americans who identify themselves has evangelical or born-again Christians. That is more than a third of the total population of the United States. The Christian market no longer qualifies as a niche market. In the past, Christian books were primarily published by small faith-based publishing companies. These days, secular publishing houses want a piece of the pie as well. The effect may well cause a backlash. The Christian market could become so hot that the market is flooded with Christian material and becomes even more competitive.

Self publishing Christian material has always been and will always be a viable option. In fact, you may be able to make more money through self publishing than through traditional publishing. If the book does take off, the majority of the profit will go back to you.

There are a number of different genres that have traditionally attracted Christian authors. There are self-help books that are based in Christianity which have garnished a lot of attention as well as several series of Christianity-based novels. One of the most popular genres is the children's book genre. In fact, Christian children's books made nearly $100,000,000 last year. As more Christian material is written, the industry will surely continue to grow.
