Uk Harry Potter

The UK Harry Potter is different from the US Harry Potter. This is news to many people, even dyed-in-the-wool fanatics. Is it just a matter of accent?

Well, that's part of it. When the Harry Potter series was released in the US, and alternate edition, also known as the "American" edition, was produced. The publishers decided that the books needed to be made more American in order to appeal to the audience on this side of the pond. They thus made a number of changes to the edition that was released in the United Kingdom.

UK Harry Potter Is the Real Deal

The publishers changed a number of things, including the cover, the table of contents, the index, and the language. Yes, even the language! Some words and names morphed into new forms, and some sentences magically disappeared.

If this all sounds like some experiment gone awry in Professor Snape's dungeon laboratory, you're not far from wrong. Luckily, the UK Harry Potter is still available to people all over the world. When shopping for books in the Harry Potter collection, make sure you know which edition you're getting.
