Artist Dona Gelsinger first caught the attention of the public with her series of 14 paintings for the St. Denis Church. These paintings now adorn the church in Diamond Bar, California, and were the artist's first important commission. Painting the Stations of the Cross for St. Denis took almost two years to complete. Once Gelsinger had completed the series, she had made her mark on the art world.

Dona Gelsinger's Artistic Background

Dona Gelsinger's family should not have been surprised when she decided to pursue art. After all, Gelsinger's grandfather was also an artist! Raised in Phoenix, Arizona, Gelsinger received her Bachelor's Degree from California State University. The artist now lives in Oregon with her family.

Dona Gelsinger specialized in moving images of angels and children. Most of her angels are depicted as innocent, young children. These angel pictures are often set against a dramatic, coastal background. Some of the most touching of her paintings depict children and angels, sitting with Jesus.

Clearly, her Christian faith has been a major influence to this important artist. Her Christian paintings are perfect for any religious home. They are lovely in children's rooms, sun rooms, or parlors. They have a colorful and lyric gentleness that has captured the hearts of many.
