Jesus pictures are the essential Christian art for any religious home. Jesus Christ has been the most important subject in art for thousands of years. Nearly every important Western artist has painted Jesus paintings. In fact, some of the most treasured artworks in the history of mankind are sculptures, paintings, and frescoes of Jesus.

The Value of Jesus Pictures

The value of Jesus pictures, therefore, is tripartite. Jesus pictures are valuable spiritually, aesthetically, and financially. Traditionally, we value these pictures spiritually above all else, but there's no denying the aesthetic joy of contemplating a beautifully painted portrait of Christ.

The aesthetic value of a painting can be determined by the joy it gives you, and the talent of the artist. Truth be told, you'd probably be as pleased by a painting your own child made as you would by a painting by a famous artist. Remember that your subjective experience is just one aspect of the painting's worth. Objective worth is also important, and can be determined by reviews of the art, the artist's fame, and the painting's ability to stand the test of time.

Financially, paintings and prints are worth more when they are signed and numbered (S/N). A print is numbered when it is part of a limited edition series. For instance, a painting that is marked 4/100 indicates that this was the 4th print made in a series of 100 prints.
