You would think it would be easy to find a reputable NY photography studio. After all, a quick search of the Internet reveals more options that one could possibly need or pursue. However, the tough part of the process pertains to knowing how to evaluate the various alternatives you find in cyberspace. As anyone who has tried to find a photographer can tell you, it's not as easy as it might seem.

Despite the benefits of Web technology, it's pretty tough to evaluate a photographer's work online. Sure, you can look at select photos, but nothing compares to seeing prints in person. You've got to review a full portfolio in person to evaluate the quality of a photographer's work and his or her eye for detail. Many photographers can get one good shot and put it online; you want someone who can compile a compelling package.

Word of Mouth

One of the most reliable ways to find a good photographer in the city is to rely on word of mouth. Ask around to see if friends, family, and professional colleagues have photographers that they can recommend. Then compile a shortlist of people to interview.

You should never choose a photographer without careful, comprehensive consultation, so once you have your list, be sure to interview all candidates. You need to be able to compare and contrast portfolios and photo packages before making a decision. Talk to as many people as possible and make your choice from an informed standpoint.
