If you're just beginning quilting, you may be overwhelmed by the number of quilting patterns and quilting fabrics available. You may not know which to choose, or you may wonder which pattern will be the easiest to start with. One way to learn about quilting is to visit websites. There is a wealth of information on the Web for the beginning quilter.

Tips When You're Beginning Quilting

You may want to start with a simple paper piecing pattern, to get the hang of one square before you decide on your overall pattern. This is a wise choice. Do your first square before deciding how complicated you want your first quilt to be.

Another great piece of advice from quilting websites is to try a miniature quilt first. You can do a small quilt, a baby's quilt, or even a small throw just to get your feet wet, so to speak. There are quilting kits which feature a quilt in a day, to teach you quickly and easily how to put together a quilt if you have limited time.

Paper piecing lessons are available on recommended websites, and you will be able to view many different patterns before you make a choice. Chat rooms and emails may help your beginning quilting experience to turn out positive! Then, as you get more experienced, you can try more creative patterns for your next quilt. You may want to try a classical American pattern such as a rotary or star quilt, or you may want to transfer a photo and create your own design!
