Many people may consider arts and crafts to be old-fashioned--a way for people to pass the time in the days before television and the Internet. In the past few years, however, there has been a major resurgence in young people becoming interested in certain traditional pastimes. Quilting, in particular, has become increasingly popular. There seems to be a yearning for a simpler time when clothes and linens were all beautifully handmade.

Craft stores are popping up all around the country, particularly in urban areas. Stores offer quilting lessons, knitting supplies, needlepoint projects and all manner of instructional manuals and patterns to follow. There are a large variety of quilting publications, in particular. These books and periodicals include special patterns, tips and techniques for the novice quilt maker and the expert seamstress.

Finding Thimbleberries Quilt Patterns

Some of the most popular of these are the Thimbleberries books. Thimbleberries began about 16 years ago and has developed a reputation for publishing beautiful quilt designs for all seasons and occasions. The books can be purchased through most quilting and craft stores or by contacting Thimbleberries directly.

Local craft stores also offer the opportunity to become part of the Thimbleberries Quilt Club. Membership is open to anyone and is meant for the avid quilt maker. Members receive special quilt patterns, projects and a monthly newsletter through their local store. It is a great way to meet others who enjoy quilting and exchange new and interesting quilting ideas.
