If you are looking for a job in an engineering field, you probably know that there are great jobs available with good salaries to match. You also know that more and more young people coming out of top colleges and universities have degrees in engineering, so the competition for those jobs is significant. Even entry level positions which are widely listed online have many candidates trying to snap them up--so you need to know where to look, check up frequently, and guarantee that your resume stands out to a potential employer.

There are many different fields in engineering. If you search for engineering job listings, you'll pull up systems engineering, electric engineering, mechanical engineering, design, technical support, and maybe even aerospace. Typically in the listing there will also be additional information about what skills are required, what level of education or experience is desired, and what programs or tools you need to know.

A Great Variety of Engineering Jobs Listed Online

The good news is that an engineering job search online will probably turn up more listings than almost any other type of job search. Salaries are almost always BOE (based on experience), but qualified people are finding jobs that pay the kind of money they were hoping to make. There are even six figure jobs listed online, and many that are in the range of $50,000 to $60,000.

The bad news is that you won't be appropriate for all of them, and that many people will be responding quickly. You should check if the site on which you're searching will send you new listings automatically. You can enter your ideal criteria (broader is usually better for these purposes) and get email notification as soon as a new listing comes up in the system.
