Motorcycle Donations

Donating your used motorcycle is a great way to help raise money for everything from local radio stations and high school sports teams to national disaster relief efforts and medical research. If you currently own a motorcycle, and it's in decent condition, you may be able to donate it to a charity for a tax write-off.

Many charitable organizations accept motorcycles as part of their vehicle donation programs. When you donate your bike more often than not, the charity will sell it at auction. People are drawn to these auctions because they offer vehicles for cut-rate prices.

Even if your bike is not in the best condition, some organizations will still accept it if they feel that sale of the parts will be able to raise some money. The best organizations will be able to pick up your bike and take it away without any hassle to you. You will, however, need to set up an appointment with the agency.

Be sure to keep a record of the transaction for tax purposes. If the organization you donate to is classified as a non-profit by the IRS, you will be able to claim a deduction on your income tax. It's also simply a good idea to check the charity's non-profit status to ensure that you are giving to a group that truly makes a difference. You can find charities that fund both national and international causes through the sale of donated vehicles--the choice is up to you.
