Auto Floor Mats

Auto floor mats need to be replaced periodically, but how often? Although manufacturers occasionally make recommendations, this is really a vanity issue more than anything else. Depending on how hard you are on your mats, the suggested change time ranges from anywhere between a few months and a few years. Of course, not all floor mats are created equal.

So how can you tell if your floor mats are no longer usable? First of all, look at the amount of fraying on your mats. If the stitching has seriously frayed, or if the model decal has somehow come unglued, it may be time to get yourself a new mat. That being said, some floor mats wear out faster than others. Thus, you may be able to reduce wear and tear by rotating your mats.

Auto Floor Mats Require Care

Of course, the driver's side mat is usually specially cut to fit under the brake and the accelerator. Your best bet may be simply to replace all your auto floor mats at once. That way, you'll have some uniformity. After all, if you replace parts asymmetrically on a car, you run the risk of damaging the aesthetic.

So what are some ways to keep new auto floor mats from wearing out so quickly? The simple act of wiping your feet before you get into the vehicle can actually make a huge difference. In addition, remember that dirt and grime that gets tracked into the car can get matted down, so when you go in for a cleaning, make sure you get a deep steam cleaning.
