Flowmaster, Inc. is one of the country's most popular manufacturers of performance exhaust systems. The company specializes in mufflers and exhaust systems that allow your car or truck to perform better at high and low speeds. Exhaust is an often overlooked part of engine performance, but it is actually one of the easiest and most effective ways to increase your engine power.

The History of Flowmaster Exhaust

Flowmaster was started in 1983, in a small shack in Kenwood, California. Ray Flugger, the company's founder and current president, combined his expertise in automotive design and his enthusiasm for racing into a company that would go on to produce world-renowned exhaust systems. Flugger's goal was always twofold: to increase horsepower and to decrease the sound of powerful racing engines.

Because of Flugger's innovations in muffler sound dampening, many of the country's race tracks have been able to stay in business. Before the advent of modern performance mufflers, race tracks (and their neighbors) had to deal with extremely loud engines that were generally seen as an annoyance. By requiring racers to conform to a certain noise-dampening standard, race tracks have been able to keep annoyed neighbors and townships at bay. Flowmaster has had a lot to do with this.

Currently, Flowmaster, Inc. is situated in a 100,000 square foot factory in Santa Rosa, California. The company has over 300 employees, and it boasts some of the most advanced exhaust research labs in the world. Flowmaster now uses their expertise to produce exhaust products not only for race cars but for the street market as well.
