Performance Headers

During a standard four-stroke engine cycle, all of the power is produced during the first (power) stroke. This is the phase in which gas burns and expands. However, once this stage is complete, engine power can be diminished. During the exhaust stroke, the piston will force exhaust gas through the cylinder. If there is resistance, back pressure will occur, and the engine will lose power.

There are a number of ways to prevent or at least lessen back pressure during the exhaust stroke. One of the most efficient and simplest ways to achieve this is by using a performance header. These accessories are easy-to-install, bolt-on products that can be found at most aftermarket auto parts supply shops. Once performance headers are in place, a driver should notice a marked difference in the performance he is getting out of his engine. It will be able to ride strong for longer periods of time, and it will be able to achieve faster speeds in shorter amounts of time.

What Do Performance Headers Do?

Headers will eliminate back pressure and ensure that the engine does not waste energy. When headers are put into place, each cylinder will basically have its own exhaust pipe. This means that exhaust gas will arrive and be spaced out equally, relieving the pressure that would normally be present.

For a car to operate at an optimal level, the engine must function flawlessly. When the engine loses power and squanders energy, the car will not perform as well as it could. Performance headers are relatively inexpensive, and they are easy to find and put to use, making them one of the best accessories a driver can place on his vehicle.
