Used Car Dealers North Carolina

One of the biggest advantages of buying a used car as opposed to a new car is that you will avoid thousands of dollars of additional fees and padding which drive your monthly payment sky high. You may be unaware of some of the common practices in new car dealerships which add thousands of dollars to the price of a car or truck. One such practice is to not disclose secret factory to dealer incentives, which can be huge--from $1,000 to $6,000 per car.

Another thing your new car dealer won't tell you is that the car on the lot has not been actually purchased by the dealership. All they do is pay a loan payment. In other words, they didn't have to pony up $20,000 for that new Chevrolet, they simply made a loan payment on it which is around $150 a month. So if they tell you that they have a huge overhead and have to charge you so much just to break even, well, it's not true.

New car dealers often negotiate a lease, or a monthly payment, instead of the entire price of the new car. That's because when they discover how much you can afford each month, they can keep the monthly payment to your liking, but extend the time you have to pay it, and pad it with all kinds of extra fees. It could take a year longer to pay off the same car! They may tell you that the "holdback" is an additional fee. Nonsense! The "holdback" is actually a bonus paid to the dealer from the factory when the car is sold. If they charge you a holdback as well, which is often 2-3% of the MSRP, then they have received two holdbacks.
