Menorca Car Hire for Island Travel

Menorca car hire will let you explore a unique and lovely island in the Mediterranean off the eastern coast of Spain. One of the Balearic Islands along with Mallorca, Menorca is only about 30 miles long. Still, if you did not make reservations for international car rentals in advance, they are plentiful on the island.

Ferries transport visitors from mainland Spain to Menorca, so international rental cars are the way to see the island. For such a small area, there is no lack of diverse terrain. On the north coast, you find valleys and landscapes without trees along a rocky coastline with many indentations. The south has cliffs, coves, and clear, turquoise waters. Roads are maintained, so driving in your Menorca car hire is not problematic.

Go for the Food

Spain has some of the best food in the world, and Menorca is no exception. Lobster stew is a specialty, as are fish soups and stews on all these islands. Fabulous sausages, rabbit with onion, duck with olives, rice with spider crab--these are only a few of the delectable dishes that are staples of Balearic Islands cooking.

As if that weren't enough, the islands are also renowned for their desserts: baked cottage cheese, apricot cakes, and the traditional "ensaimadas," spiral-shaped desserts. These islands are famous for various drinks that are made with local herbs and plants: Menorcan gin, frigola (thyme), Palo liqueur (carob fruit). Wine, of course, has been produced on the islands for thousands of years, and, as elsewhere in Spain, is served throughout the day.
