A variety of transportation options are offered at Dulles International Airport, just outside of Reston and 26 miles from Washington, DC. Take the bus, the subway, or a taxi. Hire a limousine for an easy, convenient, and safe way to the city or beyond.

Public Transportation vs. Private Transportation
The Washington Metropolitan Transportation Authority operates buses that depart every hour from the arrivals level for L'Enfant Plaza in Washington, DC. The first bus departs around 6:30 am and the last bus departs at 11:30 pm. The fare is a couple dollars one way and the trip takes about 50 minutes. A transfer bus connects Dulles airport to the West Falls Orange Line metro station. Here, transfers can be made to destinations throughout the greater Washington, DC area. The bus ride to the station currently costs just under ten dollars one way and takes approximately 25 minutes.

Taxis are available at a taxi stand located just outside the arrivals terminal. Dispatchers are on hand curbside to ensure a smooth operation. Travel time via taxi is approximately 30-45 minutes. The usual fare to Washington's city center is around $45-50. Nine car rental companies serve Dulles International Airport. The counters are open 24 hours a day in the lower level of the arrivals terminal. Car rental patrons are transported from the terminal to the car company lots via shuttle buses.

Stretch limousines and executive-class sedans are available via several private companies with advance notice. Drivers meet passengers outside of the baggage claim area in the arrivals terminal. A limousine rental offers a convenient, safe, and stress-free way to get to the city.
