Many of us have taken one of our friend's new scooters for a spin around the block and found it to be quite a pleasurable experience. This leaves us wondering if purchasing our own motorbike might not be such a bad idea. Scooters offer a number of advantages over owning a car, and can be surprisingly affordable and stylish. These benefits include cheaper purchase price, lower fuel cost, and greater efficiency.

New Scooters: What Is the Cost?

The cost of new scooters has been steadily declining as competition has heated up, making them remarkably affordable. Depending on the type of scooter you get, they can run as low as a couple hundred dollars. This is a great option for the college student who lives too far from campus to walk, but cannot afford the purchase and maintenance of having their own car.

Another benefit of using a scooter to get around is that they are very cheap to run, especially the electric variety. These relatively new scooters draw their energy from conventional AC power, with recharging as easy as plugging in your cell phone. This can offer a great advantage over gas-powered scooters, especially as gas prices continue to sky rocket.

However, if you are interested in getting more speed and performance out of your moped, one of the gas-powered new scooters may be your best option. These can be modified to go as fast as 50 to 60 miles an hour, allowing you to zip around town at a much more practical pace. These can be more expensive, but their functionality can far outweigh that disadvantage.
