Off Road Bikes

There are a wide variety of scooter types on the market today, ranging from very small bikes for children to large off road bikes with an amazing amount of scooter power. Different types of bikes require different skills and some are not suitable for very young riders.

The least powerful type of scooter is the electric-fueled mini-bike that has become very popular among today's kids. These are usually rather limited in their speed and range capabilities, which on the average need to be recharged after traveling about four or five miles at a top speed of twelve-miles an hour. The two most common forms of these electric scooters are the kickboard scooter (looks like a skateboard with handlebars), and the extremely miniaturized motorcycle. Because of their limited power and range, these are ideal for young children.

Better suited for older riders and those with an adventurous streak are gas powered bikes for off road riding. These vehicles are remarkably capable, reaching higher speeds and emphasizing maneuverability. They also come in a wide range of styles and colors. Some new off road bikes look extremely rugged yet very stylish.

As you can see, there is a wide disparity between electric scooters for children and off road bikes for older riders. As such, it is important to remember that off road bikes require greater skill in handling and also pose unique safety risks. Make sure your riding skills are up to par before hitting the trails to avoid an accident and potential injury.
