Baby Costumes

Baby costumes are absolutely irresistible, which is why we insist on dressing babies up in them. Simple one-piece sleepers and buntings can easily be transformed into just about anything you can imagine. Animal or vegetable, angel or devil, baby princess or baby Hulk, name it and you can find it.

Many baby costumes are miniatures of character costumes worn by older kids and adults, such as Superman, Batman, and the aforementioned adorable Hulk. But since infants are basically inanimate objects, we can dress them up like flowers, vegetables, animals and bugs. Ladybugs, bees, caterpillars and butterflies are very popular, hence the term "cute as a bug." Sunflower and chili pepper baby costumes are certain to elicit a chorus of oohs and ahs.

Animal baby costumes are delightful, too. My favorites are the sheep and the cow, but you can also dress Snookums as a bunny, a bear, a tiger, and even a baby dragon. There are also animal characters such as Blue from Blue's Clues, Winnie the Pooh, Eeyore and Piglet. And don't forget children's TV characters such as Bob the Builder, Dora the Explorer and the ubiquitous SpongeBob Squarepants.

Baby Costumes for Adults

But maybe what you're looking for is an adult costume as a baby. This is a no-brainer. Start with a bedsheet diaper. Make booties by wrapping your feet with sturdy fabric and tying it at the ankles with ribbons. Any costume or novelty shop carries the giant bonnets, pacifiers, rattles, bibs and diaper pins that make the look complete.
