Dance sneakers are the latest trend in jazz style dance shoes. They are similar to street sneakers except they have a flexible split sole, which means the middle portion of the lower sole is missing. The split sole allow for dancers to point their toes while wearing the sneakers. These sneakers are also known as "jazz sneakers" because they are most commonly used for jazz styles of dance.

Choosing Dance Sneakers

Dance sneakers are best used for more athletic types of jazz dancing. They are often used by dancers who frequently perform difficult dance tricks or acrobatics. Jazz sneakers are more stiff and supportive than jazz shoes. They have a thick sole on the bottom of the shoe, while regular jazz shoes are very thin on the bottom.

Dance sneakers are available from many different brands of dance shoes. Capezio and Bloch make the most popular styles of jazz sneakers. Most of their designs are made from lightweight materials which makes their jazz sneakers much lighter than street sneakers. Some styles also have special materials at the arch of the foot to provide additional support, while continuing to allow the shoes to bend.

Jazz sneakers were originally a high-top shoe design which was supportive of the ankle. Jazz sneakers are now available in styles at the ankle and below the ankle. Some styles are more flexible than others and dancers seem to have different opinions about which styles are the most comfortable. The one thing that dancers do agree on is that black is the most common and desired color for jazz sneakers.
