Saucony Running ShoesWritten by Charles Peacock Saucony running shoes are truly space-age products. Saucony takes their business seriously--they have a team of engineers and scientists dedicated to understanding what the human body goes through in the course of running. They take this understanding and roll into developing products that respond to the needs of the human body. The Technology in Saucony Running ShoesSaucony boasts no fewer than nine different types of patented shoe technology. Each, of course, has a futuristic sounding name that gives the consumer little clue as to what the technology is really doing. But we'll take a look at a few of their developments here in order to gain a better understanding of what goes into making the perfect running shoe. One type of technology offered in Saucony running shoes is called "grid technology." According to Saucony's website, this refers to a grid of Hytrel filaments in the heel of the shoe. I don't know exactly what "Hytrel filaments" are, but from the diagram they show, it looks like a grid system of cushioning layers designed to increase stability in the heel area. Saucony also offers something called "Arch-Lock" in some of its running shoes. Arch-Lock is a bit simpler to understand. Basically it refers to a woven piece of material in the midsole that actually wraps around your entire foot and ankle at the midsole area. This is designed to add more control and support to your Saucony running shoes, and thereby to your feet.
