Open bottom girdles provide all over support and smoothing. Although the main function of open bottom girdles is the flattening of the tummy, these girdles also slim the hips and rear, and create an attractively smooth and fluid line that looks great under skirts. Many open bottom girdles also come with attached garters, allowing the wearer to attach her stockings directly to the bottom of the girdle.

A lot of women today prefer simple pantie girdles or corset girdles to the open bottom variety. Open bottoms may take more getting used to, because few women today are raised wearing slips, let alone girdles. Once the wearer has become accustomed to the open bottom girdle, however, she'll find they're really quite comfortable, extremely flattering, and even sort of sexy!

Open Bottom Girdles and Other Body Smoothers

Today, there is a great deal of emphasis placed on having a slim, strong body. On the one hand, we hear that Americans are heavier than ever before. On the other hand, more people seem to be dieting and exercising. So many people are watching their carbs that it's hard to even find a normal loaf of bread in a grocery store.

Maybe women had the right idea a couple of decades ago. They might gain a few pounds or lose a few pounds, but it didn't seem to bother them as much. They had a whole arsenal of girdles, waist cinchers, and corsets to smooth them out. They didn't have to obsess about cellulite, because they had the underwear to make them look smooth and sleek at any weight. Modern women could learn a thing or two from them.
