Tuxedo Accessories

If you have been invited to a formal affair and suspect that this will become a recurring trend, you may decide to go all-out and purchase your tuxedo instead of buying it. You might have even found a style that you particularly like and--even though you might not admit it to everyone--you actually enjoy getting dressed up in it. The next step is to consider a variety of accessories that can transform the same tux for different occasions and different moods.
Buying the shirt, jacket, and trousers does not complete the ensemble. There are several accessories that you can purchase--some of which are necessary, others of which are optional. First, you should purchase suspenders. Even though you might not know anyone other than your old uncle Milton who still wears suspenders, you’ll find that they can add a classy touch to your tuxedo and make you look taller when you take off your jacket. Since tuxedo pants do not have belt loops, suspenders can give you some assurance that you can cut loose on the dance floor (though you’ll have to muster the confidence on your own).
Cufflinks are one way that you can personalize your outfit. From classic knots to cufflinks with precious stones, you can find several different styles that you can also wear with business suits. Just be sure that you purchase a French cuff shirt or a shirt with convertible collars.
Tuxedo Accessories to Complete Your Formal Attire
You might also want to use studs to fasten the buttons on your tuxedo shirt rather than plastic buttons. It’s a small touch, but it can make the difference between looking fine and looking sharp. You might also want to get a pocket square (more commonly referred to as a handkerchief) to put in your coat pocket. If you get tempted, realize that top hats and walking sticks seem to be a thing of the past; unless you want to stand out as a cheekily archaic pillar of fashion and elegance, you may want to leave them at home.
