Cellulite Creams

Cellulite creams are an increasingly popular method for battling that age-old enemy of women: fatty lumps in the hips and thighs. While there are serious doubts as to the efficacy of these creams, it is worth taking a look at what cellulite is, and what your options are for getting rid of it. Just remember to be knowledgeable and skeptical whenever dealing with this touchy and oft-manipulated subject.

The Purpose of Cellulite Creams

Cellulite refers to a certain type of fat stored under the skin. It is more common in women than men around the hips and thighs, and often leads to the unsightly "cottage cheese" look that many women are desperate to get rid of. The reality is that cellulite is perfectly natural, and isn't always a sign that you are fat or overweight.

Cellulite creams are intended to get rid of this chunky-looking fat. It is unlikely that they are actually able to do so, mostly because of the construction of cellulite. The reason cellulite looks the way it does is because it is made up of fat cells that are interlaced with layers of skin. To say that cellulite creams can somehow penetrate the skin and rearrange our inner tissue would be making a claim that simply cannot be substantiated.

If you are desperate to get rid of your cellulite, your best bet is to get into good shape. Eat right, exercise, drop the extra pounds, and see how you look then. You're not going to be able to "re-shape" your thighs if you're still overweight. The only thing that's going to make you look different is if you lose that weight.
