Get Rid Of Whiteheads

If you want to know how to get rid of whiteheads, you aren't alone. In many ways, they are like blackheads and pimples, but they differ in that they are most common in areas of dry skin. That means their treatment is different in one very significant regard.

The real root of whiteheads is actually hormonal. Your hormones regulate the amount of natural oil (called sebum) that your skin produces. You actually want some amount, because it protects your skin from a number of irritants and environmental stresses, as well as slowing the appearance of wrinkles.

When you produce too much sebum, however, it has nowhere to go and gets stuck in pores. When those pores are open, the result is an oxidation process that gives you blackheads; if the pores are not open, however, the result is whiteheads. This is why whiteheads are more common with dry skin, because dead skin cell and dried skin cells are likely to block pores. This should give you some idea of what you will have to do to get rid of whiteheads.

How To Get Rid of Whiteheads

First, you need to cleanse and exfoliate. When cleansing, you should consider liquid cleansers as opposed to bar soaps, as bar soaps are thicker and bond more easily with sebum to create a substance which clogs pores. Exfoliation is particularly important in getting rid of whiteheads because dry, dead skin cells are what keep the icky stuff in and form the blemishs. You should be careful, also, with pore strips and other products which claim to offer an immediate solution; in the long run they will dry out your skin even more, leading to more problems. Only slow and consistent effort will ultimately get rid of whiteheads.
