Natural Skin Care Products

Natural skin care products can actually have many different qualities, depending on the definition of "natural" that a particular company is using. It is important to understand the relevant issues so that you can make an educated decision about using so-called natural skin care products. If you want your skin to look and perform its best, here are some things that you should consider.

Many natural skin care products use plant (fruit and vegetable) material. In some cases, this is just fine; certain fruits and vegetables have exfoliating properties, cleansing abilities, even moisturizing properties. In other cases, however, using natural plant materials can cause a lot more trouble than it is worth.

Essentially the problems arise because our skin does not process the material from plants the way our internal systems can. The skin does not have the ability to eliminate excess material that it cannot use, break down, or synthesize. For that reason, clogged pores result from the application of any product which contains chemicals or material that the skin cannot use in the form in which it is applied.

The best natural skin products, then, are those which contain material which is natural to our own skin. When this is impossible, the next best thing are products which induce our skin to make more of these substances, such as structural proteins, itself. The most sophisticated research in skin care products today is in natural products which will do this very thing.
