Oily Skin Care

If you experience greasy or shiny skin, you should look into oily skin care. I used to have very oily skin and one day my dad so kindly said that I resembled a headlight! Well, if that doesn't motivate you to do something about it, I don't know what does. The good news is that you don't have to live with oily skin forever. You just have to know how to take care of it.

Many of you may not know, but oily skin actually ages slower than other skin types. Although this is good news, it's still no fun to have oily skin all the time. There is hope, however. With oily skin care there are ways to cut down all the excess oil, but make sure you don't get rid of all the natural oils. The natural oils that your skin produces are necessary for moisture and keeping a healthy glow. This is why you want to find a face wash that really cuts into the excess oil, but back it up with an oil-free moisturizer to make sure your skin doesn't dry out and become flaky and red.

Oily Skin Care: Hope for the Hopelessly Shiny

Another great way to utilize oily skin care is by using a mask once or twice a week. Look for something that cuts down on oil such as a clay mask. When washing your face use hot water as it cuts into oil better than cold or lukewarm. Also, avoid washing more than twice a day because more washing will actually stimulate the skin to overproduce oil and you just backfired your plan.

I also suggest using a toner. These help keep oil under control. Just make sure you get one without alcohol because that will over dry your face. A good way to keep the shine from creeping up throughout the day is to invest in some oil absorbing sheets--you can find them in the face care section at your local pharmacy--and blot them on your skin as the day goes on.
