Dress Socks

Since dress socks are worn for important occasions, you would think that they would be among the best kept and best quality socks in a person's wardrobe. Ironically, just the opposite seems to be true. Folks who keep their athletic socks or their casual cotton socks neat, clean and pristine often have dress socks that are old, thin and full of holes.

Quality Dress Socks

Don't forget about your dress socks! You may only wear them a fraction of the time you wear your casual socks, but that doesn't mean you can forget about replacing them when they wear out. A good rule of thumb is to buy a new pair of dressy socks every time you buy a new pair of shoes. This will help keep you on top of an easily forgettable chore.

If you have a PDA, you can set an alarm to ring two or three times a year, reminding you to buy new socks. This might sound ridiculous at first, but I have found that otherwise forgettable tasks, like changing the oil in my car, getting my long hair trimmed, or buying new socks, are easier to remember with the help of my Palm Pilot. I have a section on the Palm called Life Maintenance with all kinds of reminders in it, from applying my cat's flea medicine each month to visiting the dentist twice a year. Buying new socks is on my list, as well.

While you're at it, look for fun socks for friends or family. Socks make great gifts, particularly when they are fun, novelty socks. As long as you are online buying socks for yourself, buying a pair of knee highs for your best friend of cartoon socks for your nephew is as easy as pie.
