Knee Socks

Along with cotton crew socks, knee socks are a perennial favorite. Although dress socks technically pull up to the knee, they aren't what I think of when I think of knee socks. To me, a knee sock is strictly for girls, or young women wearing girlish styles and flirtatious fashions!

Classic Knee Socks

To me, the classic knee sock is a little bit silly, and a whole lot of fun. It is usually decorated, often with stripes on the fabric. Sometimes it is adorned with tassles on the cuff. Knee socks look terrific with short skirts. This is true whether a three-year old or a 30-year old is wearing them. These socks are just plain cute.

The problem with these socks is that they tend to droop. Make sure you buy them from a reputable manufacturer. You need just the right balance of comfortable cotton and snug-fitting Lycra, to keep the socks hugging your calves while pampering your toes.

These and other decorative socks make terrific gifts. My mom would put socks in our stockings every year. While I had a low opinion of this practice as a little girl, I came to love it as a grown-up. It's especially neat buying fun socks for a friend, decorated with patterns that say something unique about them.
