The science of assessing program evaluations is a relatively new business science. As businesses continue to use program evaluations as strategic planning tools, assessing those evaluations becomes increasingly important. Because the results of evaluations can potentially affect the well being of many employees, the assessment projects must conform to strict standards of reliability and validity.

Key Concepts for Assessing Program Evaluations

The evaluations must fulfill a few key business purposes. Firstly, they must provide a specific business utility. Many evaluations can identify the links between small aspects of corporate culture or the workplace and corporate profitability. The ability to do so is a hallmark among successful program evaluations.

Secondly, program evaluations must be reliable. When assessing program evaluations, it may be beneficial to determine how the planned project conforms to federal standards of reliability. This insures that both the project results are suitable for the client business and that the possibility of litigation is reduced to near zero.

Lastly, evaluation programs must be valid. Assessing program evaluations should bring to light the program evaluation's ability to properly select a relevant data set, measure that data, and offer accurate predictions based on the data. Valid data insures that the survey is completely unbiased so that the most accurate business predictions can be made.
