Hr ManagementWritten by Serena Berger There are several objectives to HR management. They may be broken down into three basic areas. First, you want cost-efficient and timesaving HR management solutions for your company. Second, you want to use your HR department to draw in desirable employees and keep them happy. Third, you want your HR solutions to enable you to grow--or, better, to help you develop. At times, it may seem as though these objectives cannot be simultaneously fulfilled. The most obvious area of potential conflict is between cost and functionality. It is virtually axiomatic that the more productive an application, the more it will cost. You need a way to weigh the long-term benefits of an HR management software package and possible support for it against the immediate cost. An ideal provider will actually be able to suggest a metric for how to compute the number of labor hours that will be saved monthly or annually by the functions of the software that you plan to use. Financial Planning Facilitated by HR Management SoftwareSaving money and keeping employees happy can also seem to be at odds with one another, since for the most part, employees will tell you that more money or more benefits is the way to earn their loyalty. HR Management software can show you ways around this seeming conflict. First, it is possible to give more (at least to some employees) and still to save overall. HR management software can help you run "what if" scenarios, in which you can determine whether group rates on benefits will ultimately save you money if group size increases, or if promoting from within will save you a significant amount of money over doing a job search and training someone new. Second, there are things other than financial remuneration that make employees more content. Having more control over their review process is one of the things that consistently rates as extremely significant among employees who are given the option. Instead of simply being summoned into a supervisor's office once each year and criticized, employees can use your HR management software to perform a self-assessment that will be printed or viewed alongside the supervisor's assessment. That way the employee knows that the supervisor will see his perspective on his own work and be reminded of any major accomplishments that might have slipped the supervisor's mind over the course of a year.
