Human Resources ManagementWritten by Serena Berger Human resources management is a concern for companies that have as few as a one employee or as many as hundreds. Employers must contend with human resource issues, such as benefits administration and payroll. While one option is to outsource all of your HR needs to a third party, many software packages are available that can tend to your HR concerns without costing you a monthly fee. Arguably the most pressing human resource concern that companies face is payroll. On a weekly, biweekly, or monthly basis, you may need to supply your payroll provider with information so that they can cut checks to be delivered to your employees. Software programs are available that allow you to enter hours into a computer file that can be sent directly to your payroll provider. Managing Your Employees' BenefitsIf your company offers benefits to your employees, you may want to purchase software or a software module to go with your existing HR software suite that allows you to track benefits. Some programs are web-based and allow employees to view their benefits from any computer within the network. This can dramatically improve the efficiency of administering benefits, as employees can easily find answer to questions that you or another manager would otherwise need to answer. Outsourcing HR to another company may be cost efficient for large companies. Small companies, however, may not be able to afford to hire an HR administrator. For these companies, HR software makes it possible to perform all the tasks essential to human resources as well as providing the tools by which records can easily be kept.
