One of the most popular forms of advertising is banner advertising. Many of the banners currently in use are printed on a thick, durable sheet of vinyl. Though most banner advertising may be one color printing on a solid color background, most printing shops offer a range of colors and styles.

Common Types of Vinyl for Banner Advertising

Though many of the banners in use may be printed on vinyl, many sign shops offer alternatives such as PVC mesh fabric. Both vinyl and PVC mesh have strengths that designers can capitalize on to create the perfect banner for any advertising situation. If the banner is designed for use in a window, some designers may choose to use perforated vinyl that appears invisible from the inside.

One reason that vinyl is popular in banner advertising is because it can be produced cheaply and easily. It can also be easily stored, as it won't crack when rolled or folded. Many kinds of vinyl used in banners are also waterproof or water resistant.

PVC mesh offers different strengths than solid vinyl. Because of the mesh's lightweight, perforated character, it is great for outside use, where high winds may adversely affect normal, solid vinyl. It is often used for printing stage backdrops, scaffolding wraps, and in other applications where luminosity may be important.
