In the last 10 to 20 years, there have been many advancements in the fields of large format graphic production and large format poster printing. Notably, the materials that many customers prefer printing on has evolved from simple fabrics into high-tech vinyl and PVC mesh, among others. Size constraints have also decreased significantly with the development of many large printers (some with a printable area of over 10 feet wide).

Large Format Poster Printing Materials

Many large format poster printing houses now use self-adhesive vinyl, which installs much easier than older kinds of vinyl. In the past, vinyl adhesives often required the use of hazardous chemicals or high heat, but self-adhesive vinyl applies easily, and, in some cases, is just as easily removed. Vinyl laminates are also used for modern vinyl poster installation, as are pressure-sensitive vinyl adhesives.

PVC banners offer other attractive points. Firstly, they are perforated, which, while not detracting too much from brilliance or visibility, allows them to function out of doors just as well as indoors. It is also lightweight and durable, making it easy to handle, install, and transfer locations with.

Some large format poster printing may not require such specialized materials. For this reason, most shops have versatile printing machines that can handle an array of papers, plastics, vinyl, and other materials. Many shops boast impressive turnaround times and flexible shipping options as well.
