Recycled Checks

In these tumultuous days, our concern for the ecosystem and wildlife really knows no limits. There's hardly anything these days that you can't get in some sort of recycled form, from shoes made of recycled tires to tumblers made of recycled wine bottles. You can also participate in recycling when ordering your personal checks.

No, that doesn't mean that you can reuse your checks once they've been processed. That means you can get checks that are printed on paper that's composed of post-consumer fiber. These checks not only help our fragile environment, but also promote our current recycling programs by providing them with an outlet to sell recycled goods.

Other Benefits of Recycled Checks

Recycled checks are usually printed with soy ink, which is a safer alternative to petroleum based inks. Not only does it not depend on nonrenewable petroleum, but it is less stressful to the environment. Using soy ink also means that printers can use less harmful cleaning chemicals to remove the ink from their presses.

Often you can find recycled checks that double to support an environmental cause. Checks for the World Wildlife Fund or the Wyland Foundation are often made of recycled paper and also help you support those organizations. Usually a portion of the cost of your checks goes to the foundation whose image you've chosen to put on your checks. You can also help these organizations by raising awareness of their existence. With every check you write, another person will be exposed to the name of the organization, which increases awareness for their cause.
