Ait tape drive stands for Advanced Intelligent Tape (AIT). It is an established standard in the tape drive industry and it incorporates numerous advancements in tape technologies. What is even more impressive is that this tape backup solution is able to run under almost any operating system, including Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows NT, Windows 2000, MacIntosh, Sun Solaris and more.

Ait media is becoming more widely available, and Sony is one of the biggest suppliers of this system. Ait stands out above other tapes for it's innovative design, unparalleled capacity and retrieval speed, and exceptional durability. In addition, Ait offers an investment protection.

Increased Capacity with Ait

The Ait format was developed to handle large capacity requirements for extensive data applications. Unlike the linear serpentine recording technology used by the Dtl drive, the Sony Ait tape drive employs a helical scan recording style. This simply means that data tracks are written at an angle on the edge of the tape. This provides higher density recording, thus enabling Sony customers to lower costs and increase efficiency by storing more data on a smaller amount of tape.

To ensure only the best reliability and performance, Sony's Ait drives are designed to only recognize and use the extremely durable Advanced Metal Evaporated (AME) media, which was developed by Sony. Ait is a wonderful data protection solution that will keep your critical data secure in the event of an emergency or disaster.
