ISCSI SAN For Data Backup Storage

ISCSI SAN stands for Internet Small System Computer Interface Storage Area Network. SAN offers IT managers the ability to manipulate data via a specific network, thereby providing more manageability of mission-critical data. It can be especially helpful to think of SANs as coming in two distinct types, which is based on the specific mode of transport within the SAN itself.

Initially, there was the Fibre Channel SAN, and later, the Internet SCSI SAN emerged. Both types of SANs provide many of the same benefits. However, let's take a better look at the benefits and uses of iSCSI SAN.

Benefits and Uses

Although they provide valuable benefits, Fibre Channel SANs are fairly expensive. They require specialized equipment not generally available in a business's existing network and, and employees often do not possess the necessary skills. By contrast, SANs based on iSCSI protocol put the Ethernet to work for them and also utilize IT employees' skills to the maximum.

ISCSI is important because it opens up the benefits of consolidated storage to companies of all sizes and budgets. These include: internet service providers, storage service providers, and any organization that requires remote data backup and storage solutions. In conclusion, ISCSI allows organizations to manage large amounts of data more effectively and with greater ease.
