The growth of internet usage has led to an increasing number of mobile users needing access to networks of all types. Whether they are looking to make an online travel reservation, download music or connect to their company Intranet, they want to be able to do so from anywhere! This is where a remote access server such as the Patton RAS comes into play; it enables such connections to take place reliably and securely.

Increased Demand for Remote Access

The Model 2960 Remote Access Server offered by Patton is able to handle ISDN traffic as well as a variety dial-up connections including the popular V.90, K56flex and V.34+ specification modems. The function of the RAS, which is a dedicated device connected to a network, is to authenticate the users before allowing them to access the network. Because users demand reliability, the Patton RAS includes redundant power supplies enabling it to function even in the event of a power failure.

Easy to Manage

Remote access servers like the Patton RAS are configured to log access activity and are able to provide managers with comprehensive reports. A unique feature of the Patton RAS is the built-in web-based management system which enables managers to access it remotely from virtually anywhere. Free software upgrades and installation support are included with all Patton products.

Although there is a lot of competition in the RAS market, ISPs will find the Patton 2960 hard to beat for small to medium sized applications. It addresses their Point of Presence requirements, sports integrated analog and digital modems, and no moving parts.
