Some of the most prestigious colleges in the world are East Coast colleges. Between Washington DC, Massachusetts, New York, and Connecticut, there's a huge cluster of top schools in the North East. If you live across the country, it can be hard to get a feel for the atmosphere of colleges in that area.

Discovering East Coast Colleges

Many of the top Ivy League East Coast colleges, such as Harvard and Yale, attract top students from all over the country. If you have lived on the West Coast your entire life, it will be wise to spend a little time on the East Coast before deciding to spend the next four years of your life there. The weather conditions and cultural differences will be shocking if you don't!

Schedule an East Coast tour of colleges you're interested in. Plan on taking about a week to visit schools in neighboring areas. After the week is up, you should have a good feel for life on the East Coast.

You can plan the trip on your own or join a group of students in a pre-planned East Coast trip. These trips can get a little expensive, but will be worth it in the long run since your visit will play a huge factor in your decision-making. Planned trips typically include airfare and accommodations, but not meals.
