Training to become a pilot can be a very expensive process. Scholarships can help those students who wish to learn how to fly but do not have the means to do so. Scholarships are not only for full-time students; those who wish to take flying lessons on a part-time basis can also benefit from scholarships. Scholarships are designed to provide more opportunities to more students.

Military and Civil Pilot Training Scholarships

Both military and civil pilot training scholarships can be obtained. There are many private sector organizations that offer scholarships to students everywhere, but they all have their specific requirements and conditions that must be met in order for a scholarship to be granted. Most sponsors only give scholarships to students from the same region, but there are a few organizations that also grant overseas students scholarships.

To qualify for a military scholarship you will have to be a citizen of the country offering the scholarship. You will also have to join the army and should expect to be called for duty at any time. Some scholarships offer to pay the whole amount needed to complete training, others only pay half or a proportion of the whole amount.

Each scholarship specifies a time frame in which a student will have to complete his training. If this is not complied with, a student may lose his scholarship. Some scholarships are paid annually, others on a per-course or monthly basis. Scholarships are for those students who are in financial need and for those students who have a true passion for flying. A student should be very serious about applying for a scholarship to learn to fly.
