Teach Reading ComprehensionWritten by Sierra Rein As a parent, you should be concerned on how to teach reading comprehension to your kid. It is well known that children who learn how to read early in life, and who display a love for reading at an early age, grow up to understand other subjects in a more fulfilling manner. After all, reading is the first skill needed to learn history, algebra, science and math in today's educational society. To teach reading comprehension at an early age, many teachers and parents turn to learning products that teach phonics. Phonics, the use of sounds and oral reading, can help a very young child (aged 3) begin to understand the alphabet and learn how to connect them into words. Sometimes phonics can also be used with older children who are having difficulty with reading skills and who need an extra push of help in the right direction. Teach Reading Comprehension at HomeBecause kids love to be read to by their parents, it makes sense that home schooling can be used to teach reading to children. Kids will enjoy learning in the comfort of their own home and will eventually become proud to return the favor and read to their own parents. However, the parent must be prepared to put steady, confident reading classes as part of the student's daily ritual. There are many reading comprehension home school books available for purchase through book stores or online publishing companies. These can be found in a number of different reading and writing comprehension levels, from toddler to 8th grade. For parents who wish for their children to eventually learn to read the Bible, special religious materials can be found as well.
