Los Angeles Drum Lessons

Given the city's centrality to the entertainment business, it's never hard to find Los Angeles drum lessons. Start by picking up The Recycler or LA Weekly and searching the ad listings for drummers who offer in-home lessons. You can also use these newspapers to search for your very own kit if and when the time is ripe--and if you have enough talent, interest, and real estate to warrant such a big purchase.

There are lots of other ways to find Los Angeles drum lessons as well. Check out any coffee shop or cafe with a bulletin board, and you're sure to find a host of ads tacked up offering everything from yoga and pilates instruction to math and English tutors. Nestled in there among all the health-conscious listings are usually a few for guitar, keyboard, singing, and drum lessons. You might not burn as many calories behind the skins as you would at LA Fitness or Bally's, but you can still get a good workout if you play with enough intensity.

Alternatives for Los Angeles Drum Lessons

If cruising the coffee house circuit looking for torn pieces of scrap paper isn't your idea of a good time, you can always enroll in drum classes at a Los Angeles music school. You don't have to commit to a full-time course load to take advantage of the excellent equipment and training offered at local-area music schools. Oftentimes, the students themselves are the ones offering drum lessons, partly to defray the cost of their own pricey music educations.

Better still, playing under the tutelage of a drum student may be more fun and a bit cheaper than signing up for Los Angeles drum lessons with a seasoned pro. Your student-teacher may be new to instruction and therefore more turned on to the idea than a crusty old drummer who never realized his own rock and roll dreams. The price is also more open to negotiation since it's understood that your teacher is him or herself a student of the skins.
