College Scholarships

The process of finding college scholarships is fraught with anxiety for most families. Although funding resources abound, locating them takes remarkable patience. It's easy to spend hours upon hours of time fruitlessly searching the Internet, and most families don't know how to make heads or tails of what they find.

It is one of the more frustrating aspects of applying to college. At the end of a long, arduous academic journey, you are finally ready to realize your dream of sending your child (or yourself) to college. Yet, as close as that dream may seem, financial obstacles arise to keep it financially out of reach. How will you ever cover four years of tuition and related expenses?

Go Your Own Way

There are literally thousands of college scholarships available to incoming college students. Your job is to find them. You can go about it on your own, but be prepared to do some real legwork. You've got to learn about loans, grants, and work-aid programs and understand their respective term differences. You've also got to be able to identify a scam scholarship when you see one.

This takes a good deal of work. Of course, it's well worth it if it results in a scholarship that makes college a viable option. However, if you're not inclined to take on a task of this magnitude, it behooves you to consider using a college counselor or financial aid specialist to make things easier. These people can apprise you of your options and help you to make an informed decision about what makes the most sense for you.
