Internet Shorthand

Why have we become so addicted to the Internet? People who live close by and even co-workers in the next cubicle rely on Email to talk to us. Why has this become the preferred mode of communication both in and out of the workplace?

Communicating via the Internet allows us to flow with our thoughts, to edit them until we are saying exactly what we feel, and letting us do it in our own time frame with a minimum of effort and inconvenience. Now, it can be even easier.

Do We Really Need Internet Shorthand?

How many times have you lost an important thought just as you were halfway through your Email? We get so bogged down in greetings, pleasantries, and traditional phrases that we forget what we sat down for! Internet shorthand is a way to quickly navigate through phraseology that you use frequently, so that you can keep pace with your thoughts. The satisfaction of getting it right the first time, of speaking your mind exactly doesn't have to be a hit-or-miss equation!

With the marketplace and, indeed, the town square turning more and more "virtual," effective communication skills become vital. With the old mail system, people were prepared to wait several days for correspondence. Now, they want your response as quickly as possible! Focus and articulation become essential, and Internet shorthand improves both.
