Most NEC phone systems are designed with one major goal in mind: to provide quality IT communications devices to small and medium businesses. Their core set of communication devices for these enterprises are the Aspire, Electra Elite IPK, DS1000/2000, Infoset 408 and the i-Series phone systems. The choice between them depends largely on the specific communication needs of the company and what methods of telephony the employees need.

For instance, the Aspire line of NEC phone systems utilizes Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP), a technology that allows one to make telephone calls using a broadband Internet connection. Aspire phones also allow the use of a normal (analog) phone line to make and receive phone calls. It is this hybrid nature that makes these phones particularly effective for startup or smaller companies interested in phasing out old technology to make way for newer, IP-based technologies.

On the other hand, The i-Series ISDN office NEC phone systems take a larger step into the future. Utilizing DSP (Digital Signal Processor) technology, the i-Series is a flexible system meant to provide a small or medium-sized business with three channels (64k) in each extension and a wide range of voice and data networking capabilities. Some key systems, such as the 28i and 124i, are great for small office spaces and can include additional telephone data machines and modules to create a solid and reliable hybrid network.

A Little History Behind NEC Phone Systems

The NEC has one of the longest histories of any electrical or communications business in the world. Starting in 1899, the company originated as the Nippon Electric Company and became the first Japanese company to begin a joint venture account with a foreign capital when it established itself with the U.S.-based Western Electric Company. Since then, the company continued to rise in growth and stability and has created many strong technological innovations in the realm of telecommunications.
