Thailand Phone Cards

If you need to call Thailand on a regular basis, you will find that using your land line calling plan will be very expensive. On the other hand, you can find phone cards that are easy to get online, will save you money, and will allow you to control your Thailand call costs. It is important, however, to pay attention to the overall cost of any card you are considering.

Take Time to Compare

It's easy to find dozens of websites selling phone cards to Thailand. The trick is to discover what the final bottom line is on each card. As with any other service product, you will have to pay attention to hidden fees or recurring charges that go directly to the bottom line cost of each call.

The types of charges associated with calling cards are: per minute fees, weekly or monthly maintenance charges, and call connection charges. If you buy a $20 card and must pay a $.49 maintenance fee twice a month, you will be reducing the number of minutes you have by the maintenance fee divided by the per minute charge. Obviously, additional charges should be avoided in most situations.

If you plan to buy an occasional card for use all on one call, however, the cards with additional fees may be the best way to go since they have the lowest per minute rates, and you will never have to pay the maintenance fee. If you pan to make shorter calls over a longer period of time, you should get rechargeable phone cards with no added fees and one minute rounding up. You can use this type of card indefinitely with no additional charges and can add minutes when you need them.
