There are two ways to go about shopping for a high quality digital camera. The first is to visit a camera or electronics store to browse their selection. If you do this, though, you're likely to run into pushy sales people working on commission who will try to sell you things you don't need. You'll end up paying more than you wanted and might not get the best camera for your needs.

The second alternative is to shop for digital cameras online. What you can do is visit several Internet camera vendors and browse their selection. Internet sites will list detailed information about each camera and sometimes provide reviews. You will not encounter sales people here and can take your time without being pressured into buying a more expensive model.

Gateway DC-T50 Online

At a good online store, you can find great deals on cameras like the Gateway DC-T50. Though the company is primarily known for computers, it released a line of digital cameras back in 2003. It has enjoyed some success in the digital camera market by providing low price, high quality cameras. The DC-T50 is one of the most affordable five megapixel cameras around.

It also has all the features you'll want in a digital camera. It has auto focus and a variety of picture modes. It has fast start up and is very user friendly. Picture quality with the Gateway is generally very good, though I have heard indoor pictures are sometimes of lesser quality than its outdoor stills.
