If you are curious just how popular Pentax used cameras can be, take a moment to associate yourself with the history of the company. Pentax's humble beginnings as the Asahi Optical Joint Stock Co. of Tokyo, a manufacturer of lenses for Japanese movie cameras and optical instruments in the late 1910's. Soon, they began to design and create aerial cameras during World War II, and pioneered the first Japanese 35mm SLR camera, which included a cloth curtain focal plain shutter, a bulb setting, and amazing shutters speeds of 1/20 to 1/500 a second.

Once these cameras were sold in the United States, the new trade name of "Pentax" became a household name. This unique name was created using the words "Pentaprism" and "Reflex" together. This name was made to reflect the incredible invention of eye-level viewfinder viewing (introduced in the Asahi Pentax model in 1957) which became the design norm for SLR cameras ever since.

Modern Pentax Used Cameras

In the 1980's and 1990's, the Pentax camera company continued with the style and innovation of the past. They also introduced fun and easy-to-use models for those who were interested in learning photography quickly and efficiently. Manual and automatic focused lenses became extremely popular, and can still be found on many Pentax used cameras today.

Many camera buyers are out there, waiting for individuals to decide to sell used pentax camera equipment and bodies. Whether they choose to keep them as collectable items, or resell them to camera shops, they will be able to give you, the Pentax owner, a good price.
