Printer CasesWritten by Sarah Provost Printer cases are a special subset of computer cases. While there are a few soft-sided cases available, the delicacy of printers makes a rigid case more desirable. The primary consideration when choosing printer cases is their intended use. If you are simply transporting a printer that will then be set up out of the case, you have several choices. The simplest and least expensive choice is a general use case. Be sure it has adequate foam padding in the interior to protect the printer from both shock and vibration. If you might be moving the printer repeatedly, consider investing in a case custom designed for that particular component. These will have foam inserts configured for that specific printer, reducing the risk of damage. Though somewhat more expensive than general use cases, these are an excellent choice if they are to be reused. Printer Cases for Mobile OfficesThere are circumstances, as in some military applications, in which you are basically setting up a mobile office, which might then be broken down and moved, perhaps repeatedly. In this case, you will want printer cases that allow you to use the printer without removing it from the case. Rack-mount systems will work for this, as will cases which have a shallow base and deep lid, rather than the reverse. These will allow you to use the printer on the base, facilitating easy packing and moving.
